To provide individualized coaching support and formative assessment for the beginning teacher(s) assigned to you in the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Program. This will be done in accordance with the California Quality Standards for Professional Credential Induction Programs that are embedded in the responsibilities provided below.
Responsibilities of the Support Provider
Attend and actively participate in all BTSA and District Support Provider trainings and meetings to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective Support Provider
Meet weekly with your beginning teacher(s) for a minimum of 1 hour
Maintain a monthly Support Provider Services Log documenting all meetings and support and assessment activities, to be turned in twice a year to the New Teacher Support Coordinator
Provide assistance to your beginning teacher in completing the necessary Formative Assessment System (FAS) activities and tools, using reflective conversations and other coaching strategies
Utilize the release days provided by the District for the purpose of implementing the program
Without revealing the confidential content of the formative assessment, confer with the Beginning Teacher’s Site Administrator on a regular basis about BTSA
Participate in program evaluation at the district and county level
Communicate with the New Teacher Support Coordinator if for any reason you and your beginning teacher are not working effectively together
Serve as a role model demonstrating your passion, motivation, and willingness to excel as a professional
