The Olive Shark Tank is Filling Up - please contribute by September 20
For those of you who are still wading through the paperwork, we encourage you to complete the contribution form, and return it, along with your payment, to your child's teacher by September 20th. By doing so, you will become an official voting member of the PTA and help ensure that we can continue to provide such important programs as art, Spanish and field trips as well as printed materials and classroom supplies. As indicated in the packet of membership materials provided in your Welcome folder, the total cost per child of PTA-provided programs and materials last year was $263. These funds came from the generous contributions made by parents and teachers. We want to be able to continue to support our children's enriched education this school year through parent involvement and financial contributions. Membership is available for as little as $10 and scholarships are available for those who request them. Please note: All contributions are 100% tax deductible!

If you have misplaced the paperwork, please click this link to access a new form which you can print, complete and return to school on or before September 20th.

So far, this year
Thank you to all parents and teachers who have already joined and provided your generous contributions. As of August 31st, our membership drive has raised $9,259 toward our membership drive goal of $16,000. We are 58% of the way to filling the tank! Please help us reach our goal. 71 families and teachers have contributed so far, and our PTA membership for this new school year is now at 123 members, with an average contribution made of $130 per family.

PTA OVERVIEW

The Olive School PTA is an organization of parents, teachers, staff and administrators who support the school and its students. Our mission is to enrich the educational experience at Olive School for all children, to support the teachers and staff, and to provide opportunities for increased parent involvement in the school. The Olive PTA also provides a forum for parents to learn about issues affecting Olive School such as school district policies and school finance.

The Olive School PTA has pursued this mission through a variety of programs in recent years. We have sponsored numerous field trips and cultural assemblies for students at every grade level. These field trips give children the opportunity to experience something outside the classroom that makes their lessons come alive such as the opportunity to see the symphony, exploration of the seashore, planetarium stargazing, or a visit to a working factory. PTA has also sponsored several afterschool enrichment classes at Olive School. Through these programs, students have had the opportunity to study Chess, science, engineering, Spanish, theater, martial arts, Jazzercise, and more.

The Olive School PTA has also funded more tangible improvements to our campus such as the school's technology lab, new playground equipment, picnic tables, emergency preparedness supplies, a library book cart, and installation of the Peace Garden. In addition, the Olive PTA has organized activities for Olive School families to enjoy together, such as our family picnics, family math nights, and birthday carnival. We also annually sponsor a wonderful teacher recognition lunch each year to thank those dedicated professionals who teach our children.

Because so many of the programs, supplies, and opportunities that the children at Olive School have are sponsored by the PTA, a strong PTA is vital to the continued health of Olive School. The PTA works hard to ensure that each child receives the maximum benefit from the funds and volunteer efforts that come through the PTA. The programs and activities that will be supported each school year are determined solely by the PTA members.

The Olive School PTA is a voluntary organization. Membership dues are one of our main sources of income to support our programs. The PTA also raises money throughout the year through a variety of fundraising activities and participation in e-scrip. Parents and teachers who are interested in joining the PTA are always welcome. We hope you become part of our organization.
