WASC To Visit NUSD High Schools

Novato, CA…San Marin High School, Marin Oaks High School, and NOVA Independent Study will be hosting the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Visiting Committees this year.

San Marin High School will welcome the WASC Visiting Committee on February 13 and 14, 2017. San Marin High School is accredited until 2020 and this is a mid-cycle (year 3 of the 6-year process) visit where they will review San Marin’s Mid-Cycle Progress Report (the report can be found on the San Marin website http://san-marin-high.nusd.org/resources/about-our-school/western-association-of-colleges-report/).

Marin Oaks High School and NOVA will be visited by the WASC Visiting Committee on April 3-5, 2017. Both Marin Oaks and NOVA received a six-year clear with no mid-cycle review needed when the Visiting Committee met with Marin Oaks and NOVA in 2011.

Novato High School will have a full WASC visit in March 2018. The WASC Visiting Committee performed a mid-cycle review at Novato High in 2015.

Most public high schools in California participate in an accreditation process developed by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The six-year accreditation cycle involves two parts: the school conducting an extensive 18-month reflective self-study into 5 specific areas (school governance, curriculum, instruction, assessment/accountability, and school culture), and periodic visits from a WASC Visiting Committee.  For more information about WASC, please visit their website http://www.acswasc.org/.
