Novato, CA…The Novato Unified School District is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Assistant Superintendent, Education Services, pending Board approval on May 4, 2021.

Jennifer Larson has been appointed Assistant Superintendent, Education Services, effective July 1, 2021.  Ms. Larson started at NUSD as a Teacher and has had served in several roles: Athletic Coach, Instructional Coach, School Site and District Level Administrative Coordinator, Director of Student Success, and most recently the interim Assistant Superintendent, Education Services.  She was worked at Herff Jones Publishing as a Sales Representative.

Ms. Larson is an advocate for the equity and success of every student and is whole-heartedly dedicated to the initiatives and goals that NUSD has adopted.  Her background in education has been heavily focused on the development and implementation of high-quality curriculum and instruction.  By narrowing the focus of the organization to three district-wide goals, Culture of Caring, Culture of Competence, and Culture of Excellence, and maintaining the commitment to always plan and take action through the lens of equity, she truly believes NUSD has a shared common vision.  As a leader in Education Services for the past six years, Ms. Larson not only participated in the shaping of the strategic plan but also played a pivotal role in implementing, monitoring, and analyzing progress.

Jennifer has a B.S. from California State University, Chico, M.A. from Dominican University of California, and is currently studying for an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership form the University of Massachusetts.  Ms. Larson replaces Amie Carter who accepted a position at the Marin County Office of Education earlier this year.

Superintendent Kris Cosca added, “Jennifer Larson rose to the top of a very talented pool of 25 candidates for this critical position. After serving for months as the interim Assistant Superintendent, Education Services, Jen will take the lead of one of our most critical departments bringing great skills, experiences, and a depth of knowledge of the goals of NUSD and our Education Services Department.  Jen will be a key part of our larger team in achieving our student achievement goals, particularly eliminating the predictability of our student test scores.”
