Listening and Learning with Katie von Husen
Katie von Husen is the new Coordinator, Intervention Programs at NUSD and wants to hear directly from parents about their concerns and questions about their students’ social/emotional well-being and feelings of safety at school. She will be holding two listening sessions at the high schools for parents from all schools to participate. These dates and times are:
August 28, 2019, 6-8 pm, San Marin High School Library
September 4, 2019, 6-8 pm, Novato High School Library
This year NUSD expanded the previous role of Prevention Coordinator to Coordinator, Intervention Programs to focus on the social and emotional learning of our students and to increase our ability to nurture and support our children’s emotional health and social connectivity. Katie’s position is funded by the Peter E. Haas Jr. Family Fund and she will be leading this comprehensive effort.
The format for these evenings are flexible and will adjust to the needs of the parents in attendance. Please feel free to attend for the full 2 hours or drop in as your schedule allows.
Spanish interpretation, food and childcare will be provided.
Katie Cobb-Von Husen is an experienced elementary and middle school principal. For the past 8 years, she was the Coordinator in Educational Services at West Contra Costa Unified School District supporting and managing accommodation plans for over 200 students and supported the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Support with Restorative Justice and Toolbox. She has her B.A. from Stanford, M.A. from UC Berkeley and is currently working on her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s College.
Escuchar y Aprender, con Katie von Husen
Katie von Husen es la nueva Coordinadora de Programas de Intervención en NUSD y quiere escuchar directamente de los padres de familia acerca de sus preocupaciones y preguntas sobre el bienestar socioemocional y la sensación de seguridad de sus hijos en la escuela. Va a tener dos sesiones para escuchar, una en cada escuela de high school, para los padres de todas las escuelas que quieran participar. Las fechas y horas son:
28 de agosto de 2019, de 6 a 8 pm, en la biblioteca (Library) de San Marin High School
4 de septiembre de 2019, de 6 a 8 pm, en la biblioteca (Library) de Novato High School
Este año, NUSD amplió el rol anterior de Coordinador de Prevención al nuevo rol de Coordinador de Programas de Intervención para enfocarse en el aprendizaje socioemocional de nuestros alumnos e incrementar nuestra habilidad para impulsar y apoyar la salud emocional y la conectividad social de nuestros jóvenes y niños. El puesto de Katie recibe fondos de la fundación Peter E. Haas Jr. Family Fund y va a ser ella quien dirija este esfuerzo integral.
El formato para las dos sesiones es flexible y se va a ajustar a las necesidades de los padres asistentes. Si puede, por favor vaya usted las dos horas completas, o bien llegue después, a la hora que su horario se lo permita.
Va a haber interpretación al español, comida y cuidado infantil.
Katie von Husen tiene amplia experiencia como directora de escuelas elementary y middle school. Por los últimos 8 años, fue Coordinadora de Servicios Educativos del distrito West Contra Costa Unified School District apoyando y administrando los planes de acomodos para más de 200 alumnos y respaldó la implementación de Apoyo de Intervención de Comportamiento Positivo (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) con Justicia Restaurativa y Toolbox. Tiene una licenciatura (B.A.) de Stanford, una maestría (M.A.) de la UC Berkeley y actualmente trabaja en su doctorado (Ed.D.) en Liderazgo Educativo del St. Mary’s College.
