The Novato Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold two (2) public hearings this spring for community input regarding the transition to trustee area district elections.

May 7, 2019 at 7:25 pm during the Regular Board Meeting. This meeting will include:

  1. Demographers Report
  2. Public Hearing to solicit input from the public regarding the composition of the district’s Trustee areas
  3. Discussion/Action: Changing the number of Trustees from seven (7) to five (5)

NUSD welcomes input on the composition of the Trustee areas and the proposition of changing the number of Trustees.

May 21, 2019 at 7:10 pm during the Regular Board Meeting.  This meeting will include:

  1. Public Hearing to solicit input from the public regarding the composition of the district’s Trustee areas
  2. Discussion/Action: Resolution regarding the criteria to guide the creation of Trustee areas.

After feedback has been received and a decision is made regarding a 7 or 5-member Board, the demographer will create various district boundary proposals in June/July 2019.

NUSD will hold additional Public Hearings in September for community input on the proposed trustee area maps with the Board’s approval of the final trustee areas by the end of September.  Updates can be found at https://nusd.org/district-elections/.

The Novato Unified School District Board adopted a resolution on March 21, 2019, to initiate the process of establishing trustee areas and elections by district to transition from at-large elections to district elections.
