[:en]San Ramon Elementary Celebrated Red Ribbon Week with First Responders

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated throughout the Novato Unified School District and is an important week to raise awareness about drugs, prevention and education. Last Friday, October 29, San Ramon Elementary had a special assembly and invited First Responders from all over Marin County to come and talk to the students about their jobs, safety and what is an emergency situation.  San Rafael and Novato Police Officers, Marin County Sheriffs and Marin County Firefighters were able to attend this special assembly. Students also had the opportunity to observe their police cars, fire trucks and water rescue boat.

Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized event from October 23 to October 31. It began by paying tribute to a drug enforcement agent that lost his life battling drug trafficking. Over the years, it has evolved into a campaign about raising awareness about drugs, prevention and education. Parents, teachers, students and law enforcement all play a role in the celebration and the campaign against drugs.[:]
