Student Shadow Day

Novato, CA…Novato Unified School District administrators and principals will join over 1,500 school leaders across the country to take the “Shadow A Student Challenge” between now and February 17.

Superintendent Jim Hogeboom, along with 10 district administrators and principals, will be spending one day with a middle or high school student, going from class to class participating in classroom assignments. This is an opportunity for NUSD leaders to ‘walk in their shoes’ and learn first-hand about what it’s like to be a student in the district. The program is described as a fun, illuminating, and supportive journey where school leaders come together to empathize with their students and take new kinds of action at their school. Educators and researchers have long known that shadowing can lead to powerful observations and insights to drive change. The Shadow a Student Challenge provides methods and a network to help school leaders achieve Deeper Learning for all students. To learn more, visit their website http://shadowastudent.org/.
