Dear NUSD Community,
There were a few updates from Marin Public Health and Governor Newsom this past week. Here’s a recap:
- California Becomes First State in Nation to Announce COVID-19 Vaccine to be Added to List of Required Vaccinations
- Students will be required to be vaccinated for in person learning starting the term following FDA full approval of the vaccine for their grade span (7-12 and K-6).
- The Governor also directed that adults be held to at least the same standards as students for the COVID-19 vaccine. While currently, California required all K-12 staff to verify their vaccination status or be tested weekly, all staff will be required to be vaccinated no later than when the requirement takes effect for students.
- NUSD will be reviewing the impact of this new mandate in the coming weeks and how it will be implemented.
- Marin Public Health updated their decision trees:
- Decision Tree for Exposure to a Positive Person while in TK-12 Schools and Programs/Activities Serving TK-12 School-aged Children
- COVID-19 Decision Tree for Student or Staff with Symptoms
- Decision Tree for Exposures to COVID-19 in Child Care and Households/Community (while NOT in TK-12 or supervised youth programs/activities)
- Marin Public Health also provided a Quarantine Guidance for TK-12 Schools, Child Care, Youth Programs/Activities, and Household/Community Exposures for schools.
- NUSD Vaccination Rates Dashboard https://nusd.org/vaccination-rates-dashboard/
- Represents information near the end of September.
- Staff vaccination rates include staff who have not yet reported their status as of 9/27/21. Human Resources is working on getting the status on those outstanding staff members.
- Student vaccination rates are self-reported, and schools will be updating this % is the coming weeks.
- The Dashboard will be updated monthly.
