The Novato Unified School District serves a diverse community of approximately 7,400 students, offering them high-quality education from Transitional Kindergarten to 12th-grade.  Our mission is to engage, inspire and empower all students, in a rapidly changing world, to realize their life goals.

Program Highlights

Marin School of the Arts

A specialized program within Novato High School offering students the opportunity to study cinematic arts, creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

NOVA Independent Study – Grades K-12

NOVA Independent Study at Novato Unified allows for remote instruction from home or any other location with internet access.  Elementary, middle, and high school students have this as an enrollment option for a complete online instruction experience.  High school students also have the opportunity to dual enroll in their school of residence and NOVA Independent Study enabling them to participate in campus activities as well.

STEM Marin

A specialty school within San Marin High offering project-based learning to develop students’ abilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Dual Immersion English/Spanish

The dual immersion program at Lynwood Elementary School and San Jose Middle School is designed to nurture foundational skills for bilingualism and biliteracy in Spanish and English as well as promote a love of multiculturalism for students as they learn grade-level content.

Medical Careers Pathways

Medical Career Pathways is a specialty program at Novato High that introduces students to a variety of healthcare careers and topics. It offers a rigorous and articulated college curriculum to prepare students for the skills needed to be college and career-ready in a variety of medical fields.

NUSD is committed to prepare all students for college readiness and success in a global society.  We offer college-oriented programs at all schools including:

  • AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) college preparatory elective class for grades 6 through 12
