Earlier today the Novato Police Department investigated the report of a bomb threat at Novato High School. A bomb-trained canine and handler from Cotati Rohnert Park thoroughly searched the campus and did not find any evidence of a bomb or bomb making materials.
Students and staff sheltered in place immediately upon learning of the threat and during the investigation and was lifted at approximately 1:50 pm this afternoon and students were released for lunch. All staff and students are safe.
The Novato Unified School District and the Novato Police Department appreciates the community’s cooperation during this situation.

The Novato Police Department is actively investigating the report of a bomb threat made against the Novato High School Campus. The staff and students have been asked to shelter in place while officers search the campus. Updates will be provided as they become available. There will be an increase in police presence in the area while NPD investigate this threat. The Novato Unified School District Staff is working closely with the Novato Police Department to determine the merits of the threat made. Student and staff safety is our top priority during this incident. Please avoid the area until the incident is resolved.
