Dear NUSD Family,
It is hard to believe that spring break starts tomorrow. This year has somehow both flown by and dragged by! I hope that each of you is able to find some way to use this week to connect with whatever is most important to you whether it is for the week, a few minutes, in person or remotely.
Topics included in today’s update are:
- Expanded On-Campus Learning Begins on April 12
- March 30 Board Meeting
- Community Input Sessions/Circles
- Meal Pickup for VLA and Community Members Beginning April 12
- Spring Break – District Office Closed
- Virtual Learning Academy Newsletters
Expanded On-Campus Learning Begins on April 12
We are excited that our Flexible In-Person students will be on campus together starting Monday, April 12! This is a milestone as NUSD is among a few K-12 districts in California to have students on campus 4-5 days per week.
NUSD has been able to move to more in-person learning thanks to the Novato and Marin community in being diligent on social distancing, masking, and avoiding high risk activities. Marin County has been able to move to the Orange tier because of these efforts. Let’s keep it up!
Please remember that our modified full return for FIP students begins on April 12. You can find your child’s schedule here.
March 30 Board Meeting
On Tuesday, the Board was given a presentation on how NUSD and the schools are preparing for all FIP students on April 12. The presentation addressed each school and department and was very informative. You can view the presentation here. The Board also adopted two important resolutions:
- Supporting People of Asian Ancestry and Condemning Harassment, Violence and Hatred Toward People of Asian Descent – Resolution No. 23-2020/2021
- Dolores Huerta Day – Resolution No. 22-2020/2021 Dolores Huerta Day
Community Input Sessions/Circles
NUSD will hold three virtual Community Input Sessions or Community Circles for each school identified by NUSD’s 7-11 Committee for potential school closure. The purpose of these sessions is to listen to each school community’s thoughts and ideas and answer their questions about the potential closure of their school.
The dates of the Community Input Sessions are:
- Tuesday, April 13, 2021 – Lu Sutton Elementary School
- Wednesday, April 14, 2021 – Lynwood Elementary School
- Thursday, April 15, 2021 – Rancho Elementary School
All sessions are from 6:00-7:00 pm and Spanish interpretation will be provided. The meetings will be held virtually via Zoom. For Zoom access information, please contact the school office at the respective school. The sessions will be recorded and posted on the 7-11 Committee webpage by April 17, 2021.
