Hamilton K-8and Olive Elementary Host Special Celebrations for Their Beloved Retirees and Staff Who Are Leaving

Novato, CA…On Friday, June 4, 2021, the Hamilton K-8 School surprised Marion Hickman with an outdoor party of current and former colleagues to celebrate her retirement.  When asked earlier what she wanted to do after retirement, Ms. Hickman said, “I want to read to children.”  Principal Steve Hospodar presented Ms. Hickman with a large book cover of her favorite book and an accompanying rocking chair to be placed in the school library for the Marion Hickman Reading Nook.  Ms. Hickman is retiring after 53 years with the Novato Unified School District.

On Thursday, June, 3, 2021, the Olive Elementary School community surprised principal Elizabeth Olinyk and teachers Fran Rozoff and Annie Distad with a parade around the neighborhood.  Current and former students and parents lined the streets around the school, holding balloons and placards as they waved and shouted “We’ll Miss You” to the three as they each drove by in a separate car.  Elizabeth Olinyk and Fran Rozoff are both retiring after dedicating many years to educating students at the Novato Unified School District and other school districts. Annie Distad decided to move out of California and will continue teaching in another state.  All women will be greatly missed.
