Dear Novato Community,

In partnership with Marin County Public Health and the Marin County Office of Education, we have decided to extend digital learning through the remainder of the school year. Everyone at NUSD wants our students to return to our schools. We miss them!  At the same time, we have an obligation to do so only when it is safe for our kids and our community.  Here is the press release from Marin County Public Health and Marin County Office of Education.

We continue our planning for promotions and graduations the week of August 3, 2020. Sadly, all other school related events are canceled. I will not generate a complete list here as that would be impossible for me to do, but this includes outdoor education trips, proms and other dances, art presentations, athletics and all other end of year school events. Having a high school senior son at home, I understand the hurt this will cause many of our students. This is a sacrifice that each of our children will make for the benefit of our community.

This is not the end of the school year any of us wanted, but I can say with certainty that every decision has been made with the best interest of our students and community in mind. I know it will create hardships and we at NUSD will do whatever we can to minimize those hardships. I appreciate everything each and every one of you is doing to flatten the curve.

Sincerely,

Kris Cosca

Superintendent
