(Novato, CA) … The Novato Unified School District is pleased to announce that Jack Moffett, Novato High School senior, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.  He was one of 12 students in Marin County named a Semi-Finalist in September 2020.

Jack is one of more than 15,000 Finalists that will be considered for a National Merit Scholarship in 2021 and has demonstrated through distinguished performance high potential for future academic accomplishment.  These 15,000 Finalists comprise approximately 1% of high school seniors across the country.

In addition, the following students have been named a Commended Student by the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC):

Izagani Aquino                        San Marin High School

Madison Cinelli                       San Marin High School

Evan Colenbrander                San Marin High School

Derek Dela Cruz                     San Marin High School

Emily G. Oblites                     Novato High School

Timothy Simmons                  Novato High School

Andersen Teoh                       San Marin High School

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
