The Novato Inspirational Student Achievement (NISA) Awards took place as well as recognizing our Retirees and employees celebrating 20 and 25 years.

And another Special Recognition was Tali Sandberg who has been with NUSD for 60 YEARS!!!

DISTRICT ELECTIONS: The Board conducted Public Hearing #2 to gather input for the demographer, Cooperative Strategies, to draft trustee areas this summer. The Board also voted to keep the number of Trustees at seven (7). Item 15.a. & b.

ATHELTIC DIRECTORS REPORT:   Dennis Davis, San Marin, and Michele Sanner, Novato High, gave an update to the board on the athletic programs at the high schools. Item 16.a.

MEASURE G PROJECT PROCESS AND PRIORITIZATION:  Yancy Hawkins explained a roadmap and timeline to identify projects for the remaining $117 million bond monies ($105 million in projects are currently underway.) The process would begin in late May 2019 to December 2019.   More information will be presented at the June 4 board meeting.  See Item 16.b.

LCAP STRATEGIES FOR 2019-2020:  Amie Carter gave a brief overview of the upcoming Local Control and Accountability Plan that will be formally presented on June 4, 2019.  Four themes emerged from community voices:  Culture of Caring, Strengthen Academic Achievement for All, Systemize Intervention and Student Supports, and Amplify Student and Family Engagement. To learn more, see Item 16.d.

PUBLIC HEARING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES ADOPTION:  A public hearing was held to gather input on the proposed Middle School Social Students Adoption. See Item 17.a.

NEW COURSE OUTLINES: Cath Nam presented new course outlines and it was approved by the Board. Please see Item 18.b. for a list of the courses.

GROUNDS DEPT. REVIEW AND IMPLEMENTATION: NUSD engaged California Schools Inspections/Bill McGuire & Associates (CSI/BMA) to perform an in-depth review of the NUSD Grounds Department and make recommendations for improvements to quality and efficiency.  Yancy Hawkins presented the recommendations in three categories:  Implement Immediately, Implement When Funding Permits, and District Still Considering, Likely Implementation 2019.  The Board approved the implementation plan. See Item 18.c. for the details.
