NUSD offers Health, Vision & Dental plans to eligible employees.

Voluntary supplemental benefit plans are available including Disability Plans, Flexible Spending Plans, Commuter Benefits and more.

OPEN ENROLLMENT

Open Enrollment Period: August 26, 2024 – September 16, 2024

During the Open Enrollment period, you have the opportunity to enroll for medical, dental and vision coverage or make changes to your existing coverage by simply filling out new forms and providing proper documentation for dependents. Watch for an e-mail re: Open Enrollment

Health Benefit changes can be made any time of the year when you have a qualifying event. Some examples of a qualifying event are shown below:

NUSD Employees Open Enrollment Period for Plan Year 10/1/2024 – 9/30/2025

~~~ August 26, 2024 – September 16, 2024 ~~~

Kaiser benefit rates have slightly increased – Please refer to the Benefit Rate charts for your current and new contribution amount effective with a September payroll deduction for October coverage. Our NUSD Contribution to medical coverage has also increased, and dental and vision are still at no cost to our employees!

This is your opportunity to:
  • For all employees at .5 FTE to 1.0 FTE – Enroll or make changes to your existing medical, dental and/or vision coverage, and add or remove dependents. Refer to the attached Kaiser, Delta and VSP enrollment forms.
  • Dependent VERIFICATION – If you are adding a new dependent, please refer to the Eligibility Guidelines Form.
  • Changes will be reflected on your September month-end paycheck and will become effective October 1, 2024.
  • The deadline to submit open enrollment forms to the District Human Resources Department is Monday, September 16, 2024.
  • For changes needed outside of the Open Enrollment Period – See attached Qualifying Life Events.
  • No changes = No Action Needed.
*CLASSIFIED – Updated information regarding the District’s VSP vision plan coverage: Classified, NUSD and CSEA negotiated a change in the VSP plan to provide frames and lenses every 12 months, rather than every 24 months, and this change to our plan coverage starts in the new plan year, starting October 1, 2024. Certificated are following up with their plan to negotiate a change in the following year, so certificated 2024/25 rates have been lowered.
