Hamilton K–8 Chess Team Shines at 2025 U.S. Chess SuperNationals
(Novato, CA) … The RISE Hamilton K–8 Chess Team made an impressive showing at the prestigious 2025 U.S. Chess SuperNationals in Orlando, Florida, earning 4th and 13th place finishes in their respective divisions.
Held only once every four years, the SuperNationals combine the elementary, middle school, and high school national championships into a single event—the largest scholastic chess tournament in the country. Ten students from RISE Hamilton proudly represented their school and community during the three-day competition, with two team members earning individual medals.
Throughout the tournament, the students demonstrated not only their chess skills but also the grit, resilience, and sportsmanship developed through a year of dedicated practice. From the thrill of victory to the disappointment of tough losses, students supported each other every step of the way, exemplifying the best of teamwork and determination.
The team was composed of five boys and five girls, reflecting RISE Hamilton’s commitment to increasing participation from underrepresented groups in competitive chess—particularly Latino students and girls. Looking ahead, Hamilton TK-8 School and RISE are eager to expand opportunities for students across the region by hosting additional scholastic chess events and encouraging greater involvement from other Marin-area schools.
