INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER (from a school of residence to requested school)

Intra-District Transfer Applications received after March 2, 2020, will be placed at the bottom of the priority wait list in the order received. The lottery will be establishing the priority wait list. 

  • Go to and start a Transfer Application (login with your SchoolMint Account).
  • Applications are due to Novato Unified School District by March 2, 2020

Online Open Enrollment Application for 2020-21

Form Due March 2 , 2020 to be included in Lottery.
Application process:
1. Submit completed application by March 2 , 2020 via SchoolMint
2. Notification of application status (approval, denial or lottery/wait-list) will be emailed by the week of March 16, 2020.
3. Until the intradistrict application is approved, the applicant is a student at the school of residence.
4. Applicants who receive approval must confirm their enrollment by returning the Intradistrict Transfer Notification form by the deadline requested, or the transfer to the desired school will be forfeited

Transfers will be made based on available space at the requested school
Submitting an application does not guarantee placement at the requested school.

INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER (from the district of residence to requested district)


Families must obtain the following documents and submit with application to the NUSD District Office, Education Services, Room 202:

  • From your district of residence:
    • An Inter-district permit application from your district of residence
    • A copy of the student’s most recent transcript/report card
    • A copy of the student’s attendance
    • A copy of the student’s discipline
Application Form

NUSD will notify a parent submitting a current year request of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received, and notify a parent submitting a future year request of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which interdistrict transfer is sought. If the district denies a request for an interdistrict transfer, parents have the right to appeal to the county board of education within 30 calendar days from the date of the final denial.
